Peter was born and raised in Hollywood, California.
He would later move to San Luis Obispo to build guitars in 1974.
His main musical influences are the duo Lambert & Nuttycombe,
singer/songwriter Ron Davies, and singer/songwriter Jesse Winchester.
He is a National Endowment for the Arts recipient in guitar-making.
Peter taught guitar-making to developmentally disabled young adults for
the California Arts Council's "Artist in Residence" program from 1982
to 1985. He instructed seniors in the same program from 1987-90.
Peter is the subject of the documentary film "A Fair Exchange."
Peter also co-founded Blue Note Music shop in San Luis Obispo in 1985.
In 2011, 2013 & 2016 Peter toured with the band
Cafe Musique on riverboats in France, Spain & Portugal.
